Julane Severson began her teaching career over 30 years ago as a home economics teacher in a small farming community. It was a great place to get introduced to the world of teaching. Her next career move brought her to the “Cities!”
She taught home economics (including child development classes) for grades 9-12 and 7-8.
She obtained her elementary license in 1988 and has been
teaching 6th grade English for over 20 years! Her creative
approach as an educator has been recognized by being selected by two school districts as a local
representative for “Teacher of the Year.”
She is part owner of a small business featuring The Counting Chef. This business provides children’s activities (including reading) at the St. Paul
Farmers’ Market and other local markets during the summer months. During the school
year, her business focuses on reading, vocabulary, and art with the Sum Smart
Cookie Club at Wuollet Bakery on Grand Ave. in St. Paul.
